LOGISTICS

The two venues for the Uncharted Festival of Ideas, which are directly across the street from each other, are the Berkeley Repertory Theater and the Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse, both on Addison Street in downtown Berkeley.

Registration for both days of the festival — Friday Oct. 27 and Saturday Oct. 28 — is at the Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse, 2020 Addison St, Berkeley, CA 94704. Passes for those who have bought tickets can be picked up from 8am-4pm on Friday and from 8am-2pm on Saturday. Tickets also can be bought at the registration desk on both days.

The Uncharted party on Friday evening is at the David Brower Center, 2150 Allston Way in downtown Berkeley — easy walking distance from the festival venues. See map.

TAKING BART 

The Downtown Berkeley station on Shattuck Avenue is around the corner from the Uncharted venues. Take a Richmond-bound train and get off at the Downtown Berkeley station. Or, if you’re coming from Richmond, take a Daly City-bound or Fremont-bound train to the Downtown Berkeley station. On the upper level of the station look for the “Shattuck/Addison West” exit. At the top of the stairs, turn left on Addison Street, and you will see the Berkeley Rep on the right and the Freight & Salvage across the street. TAKING THE BUS

Major AC Transit routes F, 1, 1R, 7, 12, 18, 25, 49, 51B, 52, 65, 67, 88, 604, 605, 800, 851 stop nearby. Call 511 or go to transit.511.org for schedules.

DRIVING FROM SAN FRANCISCO

Take the Bay Bridge, get on I-80 East towards Berkeley/Sacramento. Take the University Avenue exit. Go east, towards the hills, two miles to Shattuck Avenue.

Turn right on Shattuck, go one block to Addison Street and turn right again. The Theatre is on your right, the Freight on your left.

DRIVING FROM EAST OF BERKELEY VIA HIGHWAY 24

From Highway 24, take the Berkeley Exit: Highway 13, Tunnel Road/Ashby Avenue.

Drive west on Ashby, two miles to Shattuck Avenue. Turn right on Shattuck Avenue, proceed two miles to Addison Street. Turn left on Addison Street. Go through one traffic light. The Theatre is on your right, the Freight on your left.

DRIVING FROM EAST OF BERKELEY VIA INTERSTATE 80

Take I-80 West to the University Avenue exit. Go east, towards the hills, two miles to Shattuck Avenue. Turn right on Shattuck, go one block to Addison Street and turn right again. The Theatre is on your right, the Freight on your left.

DRIVING FROM MARIN COUNTY

Either come through the City (see above) OR take the Richmond–San Rafael Bridge onto 580 to I-80 to the University Avenue exit. Go east, towards the hills, two miles to Shattuck Avenue. Turn right on Shattuck, go one block to Addison Street and turn right. The Theatre is on your right, the Freight on your left.

DRIVING FROM THE SOUTH BAY

Take 880 North to 80 East towards Berkeley. From I-80 take the University Avenue exit. Go east, toward the hills, two miles to Shattuck Avenue. Turn right on Shattuck, go one block to Addison Street and turn right again. The Theatre is on
your right, the Freight on your left.

FAQs

Early-bird tickets (through Aug. 28) are $80 for one day and $140 for two days. Regular tickets are $160 for one day and $280 for two days. Find more information on our ticket page.

For groups of five or more attendees, discount pricing is available. Email Greg if you’re interested.

Uncharted offers a limited number of scholarship passes (all fees waived) for full-time students. To inquire about the application process, email Greg.

Yes, tickets will be sold at the door.

If you cancel in writing by October 11, we’ll refund your payment minus a $20 processing fee. After October 11, cancellations will receive credit toward Uncharted 2018. Substitutions, however, can be made at any time without penalty. For all cancellation or substitution requests, email Greg.

All attendees will need proof of registration to enter the festival. This can be a physical printout of your ticket(s) or a digital confirmation on your smartphone.

Uncharted is best experienced as a full immersion, where the collective ideas outweigh the sum of their parts. That said, if you’re only able to attend a single day, you may buy a single day pass.

 

Absolutely. Included in your festival ticket are the Friday night party, serving hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, and coffee, tea and snacks are on offer each morning and afternoon.
