Dennis Baldocchi

Investigating the water-food-climate nexus

Dennis Baldocchi is a Professor of Biometeorology at the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on measuring and modeling trace gas exchange between vegetation, land and the atmosphere. Reared on a walnut and almond ranch in California, he has a special interest in the water-food-climate nexus and is doing work on water use by crops and the role of climate change on winter chill accumulation by orchards in California. He is a Thomson-Reuters Highly Cited Scientist in Agriculture and in Ecology/Environment, a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union, former editor in chief of the Journal of Geophysical Research-Biogeoscience and recipient of the American Meteorological Society Award for Outstanding Achievement in Biometeorology.
